I have been testing all ships in VR again to see how they do. I have been using high end headsets like the Pimax Crystal Super so this is as high resolution as it gets. Here are the best Star Citizen ships in VR:
Best Capital/ Large ships in Star Citizen VR
RSI Perseus
Definitely my favourite so far among the large/ capital class of ships. The central location of its cockpit had me worried but for some reason, it feels really good. Seeing the ship in front of you really adds that feeling you actually are in a large ship. Sadly, this feeling is missing from other large cap ships like the Polaris or Carrack but those are still decent. Also, Perseus’ interior makes it look pretty modern. I give it a 9.5/10 in VR.
Anvil Carrack
Carrack is pretty good and my second pick after Perseus. The cockpit offers good visibility and the ship doesn’t look too dated. Getting around is a not ideal but not as good as the Percy. It also has so much to offer that I think it is my favourite large ships in the game overall. Drones, ship hangar, large cargo, good cockpit, ability to explore. This one is definitely a keeper.
The captain’s view on the top deck is ok but the pilot’s view int he lower deck is really awesome. The struts could be a little thinner but not a deal breaker especially with the glass bottom. Overall a 9.5/10 in VR.

Origin 890 Jump
I have actually toured the 890J in VR before using workarounds. I was impressed back then and I am impressed even now. The cockpit view is ok but where this ship really shines is the atrium. The way the atrium accentuates the scale and grandness of everything is unmatched by any ship in the game. I would give the 890J 10/10 if only the interior textures were not so horrible. The luxury interiors look really bad. It doesn’t feel like real texture. Sadly, that brings down the score to 7.5/10.
RSI Polaris
Didn’t really like the Polaris cockpit view at all. The pilot’s view is very bad with lots of struts in front. The captain’s view is somewhat better but he can’t do anything. The interiors look decent. Traversing it is a bit of a pain though. It would be a 6.5/10 for me.
Aegis Retaliator
Its not as bad as I feared initially. The cockpit view is on the average side but it is a nice and cozy cockpit, meaning it feel realistic. It does feel like you are in a smaller vessel. The interior is dated but not too bad. Overall, the ship is in the middle of the pack in VR. A 6/10.
Origin 600i
Same problem as the 890J with the interior textures, but way worse here. At least 890J has plants, stairs, a big atrium etc. to break from the horrible textures. This ship feels the most “fake”. The chairs look like they are made from cheap plastic. That being said, the cockpit view itself is decent. So if CIG ever updates the textures, the ship will be alright. A 5/10 for me just because of the interior.
Aegis Idris (M/P/K/T)
Probably my least favourite because of how dated the cockpit looks. You are essentially covered by big, ugly struts and can’t see anything. The struts in the cockpit look like they are from 2004 and the ship body feels dirty, old and dated. And not in a good way. Also, traversing is a nightmare in such a large ship. The only thing I liked was the cavernous hangar but even there textures there need updating.
Note that this review is not about capability of the ships but just how they look in VR. This ship is a 3/10 in VR.
Crusader Hercules A2, M2, C2
Hercules series, as expected, is bad. The cockpit competes with the MISC series in terms of being bad. The visibility is even less but it feels less intentionally bad. The textures are average. Not too dated. They don’t take too long to traverse either. A 4/10 for me. Gonna have to melt my A2.
Aegis Hammerhead
Again, not a big fan of Aegis interiors. They look dated and not very nice. Cockpit view is very claustrophobic because your entire top view is blocked. Probably one of the worst cockpits outside of Crusader and MISC.
Aegis Reclaimer
This ship looks horrible in VR. Big, ugly struts all in your face. Bad cockpit view, horrible and dated textures, pain to move around, pain to salvage in. It was so bad I actually melted mine right away lol. The ship does have ghostly feel to it which is nice for about 5 minutes. But there is no way I am sitting in that cockpit long term. A 4.5/10 for me.
MISC Stafrarer, Starfarer Gemini
The worst ship in VR without a doubt. Melted mine right away. They were already pretty bad in 2D because of the worst cockpit design in video game history. Also, the worst interior layout in video game history. A crime against backers. 0/10.
Constellation Andromeda, Aquila, Phoenix
The Constellations are terrible in VR. Some of the worst ships actually. There are just way too many struts and they are thick and right in the middle. The cockpit is even worse than the Starfarer. The interiors are below average but not as bad as the Starfarer. But the cockpit being so bad made me swear to never fly one again ever. 3/10 for the cockpit struts alone.
MISC Hull C
I will never forgive CIG for what they did to the Hull series. Such beautiful interior, pretty exteriors, such useful ships – all ruined by the mail slot cockpit view. Its bad enough in 2D but unusable in VR. The Hull C at least doesn’t have it as bad as the Stalancer or Starfarers. A 3/10 for me.
MISC Starlancer MAX, TAC
The worst of the worse mail slots with so much wasted space you could fit another ship on the dash. It makes me physically sick sitting in the cockpit. Feels like prison. 1/10 and that 1 is for the nice interiors. The only reason its not a 0 is because the Starfarer exists lol.

Best Star Citizen Fighters in VR
Aegis Sabre Firebird
I thought all Sabres would have the same cockpit but they don’t. The Firebird is much better than the base Sabre. It is modern, offers way more visibility and I really love it! Decent MFD readability, good view and fun to fly. Gold standard for fighters with a 9.5/10 VR cockpit!
Esperia Glaive
One of the best cockpits for a fighter. Great visbility. No annoying low-res alien texture. Visibility all around. The only nitpick would be the huge guns on either side but they are far enough to not be annoying. The cockpit feels modern even though this is the old version. A 9.5/10 for me.
Unfortunately, CIG will ruin it because they have already updated the old Glaive model (look at my Blade review). Sigh. You just can’t win sometimes.
Aegis Sabre
Slightly worse than the Sabre Firebird because of the added struts in the front. I doubt CIG will remove them so 8/10.
Anvil F8C Lightning
I was disappointed by the performance of this ship in game. But it has redeemed itself in VR! It has a very nice cockpit with decent views all around. Pretty neat for a heavy fighter. 7.5/10.
Avenger Titan
This actually looks pretty good. The canopy is a bubble one with decent view. The dash gets in the way but it is not horrible. They have made it feel aged with paint scratches etc. which I am not a fan of but its still done decently. A 7/10 for me overall. It feels like a WW2 warbird.
Aegis Gladius
The Gladius has always been the poster boy for the game but in VR, it disappoints. The dash is just way too big and right in your face. The cockpit is modern, very good MFDs but your view to the front is blocked by them. Another funny thing is that the dash slopes downwards so that makes it a little bit harder to tell where your nose is pointed. Not ideal. I always called the Gladius the F-16 of the Star Citizen world but the VR implementation leaves a lot to be desired. A 5.5/10.

Anvil Hornet, Super Hornet Mk II
Probably one of the worst cockpits for a fighter. There is a LOT of empty space in front of you and it feels like you are in a freighter rather than a fighter. Doesn’t feel like you are in the action at all. A 5/10 for me.
L21 Wolf, L22 Alpha Wolf
I expected the nose of the ship would block a lot of your view and it does. It’s pretty bad view but the textures, quality etc. make up for it. I also realized that when you are busy in combat, you notice the nose a bit less. The ship flies well though and only the view kills it for me unfortunately. The view above and to the sides is stellar, but the nose blocks a lot of it. It is beautiful though. A 7/ 10 overall.
Aopoa Khartu-al
This is the ship I am most disappointed with, even before VR was a thing. Its main issue is its size as well as those big, ugly struts right in front of you. You are basically looking out from a vertical slit. It makes no sense. The visibility is great everywhere except where it matters the most – right in front of you. The textures are decent and exotic enough to not be a total wash. A 4/10.
Anvil Arrow
Arrow has decent visibility but the MFDs look dated. Also, the ship cockpit is very tiny and feels more like a toy. Of course that small size is what makes this ship overpowered in real combat. But as far as VR looks is concerned, its pretty bad for a fighter because of the tiny feeling. 6/10 for me.
Anvil Gladiator
This could have been a pretty decent cockpit except for the struts. This is literally a Bf-109 in space. There is a square window in front. Its not too bad but its not nice either. Feels claustrophobic. The MFDs are small but not horrible. Overall an average 6/10.
Esperia Blade
The cockpit view is below average. There are struts that block your view. The alien aesthesis are not nice. Looks dated and just uninspired. But the worst part is the glaring red lights that are shining in your face. Overall a 5/10.

Best Mediums ships in Star Citizen VR
RSI Zeus Mk 2 CL, ES
The Zeus is pretty good in VR. There is glass even right under your feet which makes landing super easy. However, the struts in front are just a tiny bit too big and ugly which keeps this ship from being perfect. The interior is very modern and it is very easy to get in and out. One of my favourite medium ships for sure. A great daily driver. 9.5/10
Drake Vulture
I expected the vulture to be bad in VR but it is actually perfectly ok. The two big salvaging arms don’t get in the way too much. But the most annoying part is the interior layout with that hated ladder. Completely makes it horrible in both 2D and especially in VR. 5.5/10 in VR.
MISC Prospector
Prospector has a great view in VR and the only MISC ships that can boast that. The texture is not that good though and looks weird in VR with dated interiors. But overall, it is still decent. 8/10.
Aopoa Syulen
The view is decent. Its a pretty clear view outside. The cockpit is nice and funky too. The alien aesthetic has been done well. Not a fan of the interior though. Looks bad in VR. But overall, still a good ship so a 8/10 for me.
Drake Cutlass Black, Blue, Red, Steel
Another decent cockpit ruined completely by MFDs. The MFDs are right in your face. Like if you stick your tounge out, you could be licking them lol. Terrible implementation. Otherwise, the cockpit view is decent and interiors look realistic, albeit dated. A 3/10 for me.
Argo RAFT
The RAFT has a flawless view from side to side but up and down is not so nice. Its not too bad for a freighter but it makes landing hard when you can’t see up or down. The interiors look dated but have a lot of unique animations and greebles. A 6/10 for me.
MISC Relaint Kore, Mako, Sen, Tana
One of the best cockpits around. Total glass canopy, everything is visible. Too bad the ships themselves are pretty useless though. But if you just want VR views, this is a 9/10.

Best Small ships in Star Citizen VR
Origin M50
I expected the M50 to do well because of its bubble canopy but it doesn’t. You feel like you are seated too low and the dash blocks most of the view not just in the front but towards the sides as well. Its also very dated from the inside even though it still looks amazing form the outside. Still, a 6/10.

Origin 85X
I can’t believe how much I hate the dash. It takes like 45% of your view. The dash is literally right up to your chin. A 1/10.
Argo MPUV Cargo, Personnel
The Argo Cargo has a decent view, but a bit obstructed at some places. Still you can see below you quite well. The feeling is like sitting inside of a tractor so kudos to CIG for authenticity. A 7/10 in VR.
Origin 100i, 125a, 135c
One of the better Origin options, which isn’t saying much. Same design language with the canopy around you being too high but not as high as the other Origin ships. There is a long unnecessary horizonal strut but it is what it is. A 6/10.
Origin 300i, 325a, 315p, 350r
This one is pretty bad where you feel you are sitting too low and the body of the ship is blocking your view all around. Not a fan but the view is good for the rest 60%. So a 6/10 overall.
Mirai Razor
I thought it would be bad but its actually quite decent. The cockpit is small but that is expected. The view is good on top and sides with only two small struts. But the dash is a tiny bit too big. Still a solid 6.5/10.
Anvil Pisces C8, C8X, C8R
The Pisces is absolutely horrible. A very claustrophobic cockpit with restricted visibility and darkness. The interior is ok but the cockpit was a big nope for me. Kinda sucks because I am stuck with one that comes with my Carrack. CIG dropped the ball hard with this one. A 3/10.
CO Mustang Alpha
The Mustang view is very good. Its almost a wrap around cockpit especially on the sides. However, there is big massive MFD right in front of you which kinda takes up too much of the screen. It feels out of proportion in VR. A 7/10 overall.
RSI Aurora
Aurora has a pretty ok view. There are struts but they are not as bad as the Constellation series. There are windows on all sides but they are kinda blocked by the strusts. Where the Aurora loses out big time is the animation to get in and out of the pilot’s seat. That feels horrible in VR. 6/10 for me.

Best Ground Vehicles in Star Citizen VR
Greycat MDC/ MTC
Probably my favourite ground vehicle out there. I thought they would be smaller but they are way bigger than an Ursa , at least vertically. The cockpit view is not amazing but that is made up for by the very nice MFDs and the decent interior. You also sit much higher than an Ursa which makes it feel like sitting in an SUV vs a Sedan. 7/10 in VR. View could be better.
Pimax Crystal Super

RSI Ursa, Medivac
The Ursa has a very good view form the cockpit but that’s about it. The interiors are very dated, you sit low on the ground compared to the MDC/ MTC and that about it. Of course it drive very well and is very useful but this review is all about VR looks. A 7/10.
CO HoverQuad
Its a grav lev bike with no cockpit so yea, its gonna have a 9/10 view lol. It feels more realistic than the others.
Drake Dragonfly
Not as good as other grav lev bikes as there are protrusions that get in your face. A 7/10.
Mirai Pulse
Pretty good view and the HUD is projected in front of you. Ok, I guess. Feels a bit too small. 8/10.
